Power players from the US Open, business, politics, philanthropy and science enjoyed and engaged at The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) Gala in the Hamptons on the perfect summer evening of August 25th. After three days of research panels, health seminars and tennis tournaments at private estates in Southampton, all were gathered for dinner and dancing at the Parrish Museum. For the 19th year, legendary Wall Street financier Michael Milken celebrates over $750 million total has been raised for the cancer research foundation he founded. The driven philanthropist doesn’t rest on his laurels continuing The Prostate Cancer Foundation focus on funding various types of cancers outside of prostate for over 2,000 research programs at more than 200 cancer centers and universities.

After the red carpet photos were taken everyone moved into the open terrace over looking visual art and meadow greens for cocktails and hors d’ouerves . Servers offered lobster rolls, chicken satay, crudités, Maryland lump crabcakes and lamb samosas passed on silver trays. While others sipped cocktails and compared tennis games in the adjoining room a silent auction was in progress with competitive bidding.

Over 14 years ago, Bonnie Pfeiffer Evans lost her husband Charles to cancer and began with a modest tournament. The Annual Charles Evans PCF Pro-Am Tennis Tournament grew and has raised $29 million to benefit PCF’s scientific research. The three day event provides amateur players a unique opportunity to play with world class tennis professionals Treat Huey, Edouard Roger-Vasselin, Scott Lipsky, Daniel Nestor, Alex Bogomolov Jr., Don Johnson, Cyril Saulnier, Robert Kendrick, Vince Spadea, Scott Davis, Graydon Oliver, Jared Palmer, Rick Leach, Amer Delic, Santiago Gonzalez, John Lloyd, Jason Pinsky, Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, Chris Haggard, Wayne Ferreira, Georgy Chukhleb, Luke Jensen and Ashley Fisher. The generosity of weekend hosts Bill Ackman, Michael & Margie Loeb, Josh & Marjorie Harris, John & Jenny Paulson, Jane Lauder & Kevin Warsh, George Walker, Tom & Ann Tenenbaum Lee and Leon & Debra Black provided the private tennis courts of their Hamptons estates. The Shinnecock Tennis Club was the tournament site for the final rounds of the final Sunday pro-am matches. Mike led his annual health trivial game as the starter was served at the seated intimate dinner inside the museum to an amused audience. He shared a heartfelt thank you to supporters and their guests for their consistent commitment to the foundation. PCF’s President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jonathan W. Simons shared the victories of the 263 PCF Young Investigators Award recipients whom since 2008 have researched 10 FDA approved drug treatments.

Guests dined on fresh shaved salad dressed with a truffle oil vinaigrette, plank Alaskan salmon fillets with roasted vegetables and an individual corn soufflé followed by a dessert of whipped cream topped shortcakes with fresh strawberries, blackberries and raspberries . The lavish summer meal was complimented by Whispering Angel wines and finished with tasses of hot coffee or tea . Grammy award winning musician John Fogerty rocked the stage with his greatest hits, “Have you seen the Rain”, Travelin’ Man and “Down on the Corner”.

The last big Hampton soiree of the summer, The Prostate Cancer Foundation gala raised $4 million dollars to continue groundbreaking discoveries in cancer research.
