It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad world. The Museum of Arts and Design captured the zeitgeist of now. MAD celebrated with a Patrons Preview on Thursday, May 20th from 5:30–8:30. Objects de arts, curators, artists, patrons and friends gathered for an evening of art.

The MAD minglers included board member Marian C. Burke, MAD Chair Michele Cohen, MAD Luminaries Co-Chair Alexander Hankin, Chairman Emeritus Lewis Kruger, Chairman Emerita Barbara Tober, as well as Shaikha Paula Al-Sabah, Ambassador Gerard Araud, Michael Bolla, Joan Hardy Clark, Tiffany Dubin, Rina Dweck, Sharon King Hoge, Bryan Ludwig, Shantell Martin, Meredith Marks, Carrie Moyer and Sheila Pepe, Christina Senia, Ted Taylor, Angelik Vizcarrondo-Laboy, and Timo Weiland.

The celebration began in the lobby and traveled to the fourth floor. The preview included the debut of two new exhibitions Carrie Moyer and Sheila Pepe’s Tabernacles For Trying Times, a selection from MAD’s permanent collection called Craft Front & Center, and the remarkable Fisher Dollhouse: A Venetian Palazzo in Miniature and a hands on makers experience.

Tonight is a wonderful celebration to kick-off the summer at MAD”, said Interim Director Terry Skoda. “There’s no better time to share with New York City our exciting new exhibitions and our eclectic permanent collection. We invite everyone to visit.”

New York City is in restart mode and the superb weather gave the museum turnout a social laidback vibe. More than 3,100 objects created by nearly 1,600 artists from close to 30 countries comprise MAD’s permanent collection. The Museum of Arts and Design is located at 2 Columbus Circle in Manhattan.
